Abandonment: 


An application for trade-mark or copyright registration may be considered abandoned if the applicant does not take steps to complete the process. An application for Industrial design will be considered abandoned if the applicant fails to reply within the specified time to any report that sets out objections to registration.

                                                                                              

Abstract

The abstract, which is preceded by the title of the invention, contains a concise summary of the disclosure of the invention as contained in the description, claims and drawings. Abstracts are loaded approximately one month after the publication date.

Active Inducement to Infringe:  

One may be held liable for patent infringement as a result of actively encouraging another to infringe if such other does infringe, even though the inducer has not made, used, sold, offered for sale, or imported the patented invention.

                                                                                      


Affidavit:  

A signed statement (filed with the patent office) putting appropriate facts or opinions   on record.


Allowance: 

Acknowledgement by the Trade-marks Office that an application is eligible for registration. The applicant receives a "Notice of Allowance" (not the same as "Certificate of Registration").

                                                                                               

Anticipation: 

This is when the prior art indicates that a patent application lacks novelty.

Application:  

The formal request for registration of intellectual property.

Papers comprising petition, specification, drawings (when required), one or more claims, oath or declaration and filing fee, whereby an applicant seeks 


Artistic work: 

Any visual representation such as a painting, drawing, map, photograph, sculpture, engraving or architectural plan.

Assigned duty of employment (or assigned duty):   

Duty (ies) or activity (ies), within an employee’s Scope of Employment, which an employer assigns to an employee. Such a duty or activity is under the control, direction, specific authorization or supervision of the employer.



Assignee:  

The person(s) or corporate body to whom all or limited rights under a patent are legally transferred. Assignment Transfer of all or limited rights under a patent.



Assignment: 

Transfer of intellectual property rights from the owner to another party.



Author:
