Can I patent a law of nature?
One of the things that
you cannot obtain a patent for is a physical law or rule of
nature. For example, the PTO will not grant a patent to a scientist
who discovers a new physics formula. However, you might be able to patent an application of a law of nature, if it otherwise
meets the patent requirements.
